Deccan Chronicle Chennai Reports about one of the CPF's Demand made to TN State Legislature on 03.05.2010

The Coastal People’s Federation (CPF), a network of CBOs, NGOs, activists and fisherfolk leaders from four southern districts, has urged the Tamil Nadu government to include the fishermen families under the Kalaignar Housing Scheme for the poor.
The houses could be built within 1,000 m under the scheme, as the Rajiv Gandhi tsunami rehabilitation fund is closed, CPF convenor Pushparayan said on Sunday.

Several thatched houses still exist in coastal villages and these could be converted into concrete houses.
